The Adams Family
“The Addams Family” is a fictional family
known for their love of the macabre and
their obliviousness to how others perceive
their unusual lifestyle. Created by
cartoonist Charles Addams, they first
appeared in The New Yorker in 1938. The
family includes the suave Gomez, his
enigmatic wife Morticia, their children
Wednesday and Pugsley, the eccentric
Uncle Fester, and the towering butler
Lurch. They are a satirical inversion of the
ideal American family, delighting in what
many would find bizarre or frightening.
