Black Panther
Black Panther, whose real name is
T’Challa, is a character from Marvel
Comics. He is the king and protector of
Wakanda, a secretive and highly
advanced African nation. T’Challa inherited
the mantle of the Black Panther,
becoming the latest in a legacy line of
warriors who protect Wakanda.
T’Challa is a righteous king, a noble
Avenger, and a fearsome warrior. Under
his leadership, Wakanda has flourished as
one of the most technologically advanced
countries in the world. As the Black
Panther, T’Challa possesses enhanced
abilities achieved through ancient
Wakandan rituals of drinking the essence
of the heart-shaped herb. He also relies
on his proficiency in science, rigorous
physical training, hand-to-hand combat
skills, and access to wealth and advanced
Wakandan technology to combat his
enemies.
Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and
artist-coplotter Jack Kirby, the character
first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 in July
1966. Black Panther is a significant figure
in American comic books and is the first
black superhero in mainstream comic
books. His character has had a large
influence in pop culture and other comics.
