Chapter 2:
The Discovery
The night was still at Hogwarts, a silence so profound it seemed to muffle the
footsteps of Argus Filch, the caretaker, as he made his rounds. Mrs. Norris, his feline
companion, prowled alongside him, her eyes reflecting the dim light from Filch's
lantern. It was in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom that Filch's routine
took an unexpected turn.
There, on the teacher's desk, sat an artifact unlike any he had seen before—a sphere
swirling with dark hues that seemed to drink in the light. As Filch approached, the air
around the artifact grew colder, and a sense of unease settled over him. He reached
out, hesitatingly, when suddenly the sphere pulsed.
With a sound like the cracking of the earth, the space before the artifact rippled and
tore, revealing a portal that exuded darkness and whispered of distant,
unfathomable realms. The portal's edges crackled with eldritch energy, and from
within its depths, shadows began to stir.
Filch stumbled backward, his heart pounding as he witnessed the impossible. The
portal yawned wider, and through it slithered creatures of nightmare—wraithlike
entities that slipped into the classroom and vanished into the shadows of the castle.
Panic gripped Filch as he turned and fled, his mind racing with fear. He knew he
must alert the faculty immediately. This was no mere magical mishap; this was
something far more sinister.
By the break of dawn, the news of the artifact and the portal had spread through
Hogwarts like wildfire. Students gathered in hushed groups, trading rumors and wild
theories, while the faculty convened in urgent whispers.
Professor McGonagall, with a grim expression, summoned the staff for an
emergency meeting. They needed to understand what they were dealing with, and
more importantly, they needed to protect their students.
The portal, now a gaping maw within the walls of Hogwarts, beckoned with a silent
call. It was an invitation and a threat all at once—an opening to the Dark Dimension
that could not be ignored.
