Dr. Manhattan

Dr. Manhattan, also known as Dr. Jonathan “Jon” Osterman, is a fictional character from the DC Comics series, Watchmen. He was created by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons. Following a laboratory accident, atomic physicist Jon Osterman gained the ability to observe and manipulate matter at the subatomic level. This event transformed him into a superhuman being with various abilities including omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, reality warping, time manipulation, and more. Dr. Manhattan’s character is often seen exploring the extent of his powers, which leads him to become increasingly distant in his personal life and understanding of the human experience. His characterization within the novel is considered a key exploration of the tension between absolute power and the morality of its usage.
