Scorpion
Scorpion, whose real name is Hanzo
Hasashi, is a central character in the
Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He is
a resurrected ninja and is known as the
mascot of the games. Scorpion is one of
the few original characters who debuted
in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game.
Scorpion is an undead Japanese warrior
who is primarily defined by his quest to
avenge the deaths of himself, his family,
and his clan. After killing Bi-Han/Sub-
Zero, whom he believed to be the killer,
Scorpion develops a feud with Bi-Han’s
younger brother and second Sub-Zero,
Kuai Liang, that spans most of the
franchise before discovering Quan Chi is
the real murderer.
Scorpion is known for his yellow attire and
his primary weapon, a kunai rope dart,
which he uses to harpoon opponents.
Despite being a neutral figure focused
primarily on seeking revenge, he will side
with those who can help him achieve his
goals. His character has received critical
acclaim since his debut and frequently
appears in media outside of the games.
His design, special abilities, and finishing
moves known as “Fatalities” have made
him one of the most popular characters in
the franchise.
